Sila Nzioka Tulani, better known by his stage name Chai Tulani is a Kenyan-American Sonic Soul Artist, Singer , Songwriter, and Actor. He is best known for his high energy live stage performances and his signature fedora hat as well as being featured in news outlets and radio as "Chicago's Favorite African King"
Tulani was on born April 19th, 1994 in Nakuru Kenya to Jaote Wawatu and Lydia Mutua. He is the oldest of 3 (one sister, one brother) . Though he was born in Kenya, Tulani was raised primarily in Chicago and the surrounding south suburbs.
Tulani began his professional career in 2014 at the age of 19. Although he had released his first official mixtape "Visionz of Zion" the year prior (2013) . Tulani has stated through out a few of his interviews with news outlets and radios including vocalo radio 91.1fm Chicago and UIC radio, that he did not consider himself a full time professional artist until 2014 because that is when he got the blessing from his parents and was able to leave school to begin a full time career in music.
Since then Tulani has released 1 mxtape, 3 EP's , and 1 full legnth album. Tulani has also opened up for major artists such as GLC, Jay Electronica, Lion Babe, Wyclef Jean and more. in 2018 Tulani went on his first official tour perfroming sold out shows in Chicago, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles.
Chai Tulani has been making a name for him self in Chicago, and abroad over the past few years and has been reviewed and considered one of the most unique artists to break out of Chicago. Co-signs include The Chicago Tribune, Lyrical Lemonade, XXL, Ever Evolved and many more.
